~MUMFORD’s MUSINGs~A moment in the life of someone who prays for healing.

DATELINE 12/13/18 noon a Virginia Beach Barber’s shop.

So, I go to my barber for a hair cut today. I’m greeted as usual witha flurry of, “How are you Fr. Nigel?” “So good to see you again.” “Are you well?” “What’s up?”  “Everybody this is Fr. Nigel…” etc. it a joyful time. Somewhat embarrassing for this ambivert.  I’m led to the backroom where there are more stations but only one person cutting. As I’m getting my hair cut, the owner pops his head into the room. I have two customers who need prayer. Would you be willing to pray for them after your hair cut? My reply, “Yes of course.” 
After my hair cut two people are led into the back room. My temporary office!“How may I pray for you?” First was a painful back after a car crash and skiing accident. The second a painful work related damaged ankle. 

After the prayer the man with the painful ankle said he he felt intense heat and was still feeling that heat. The man with the painful back then said, in a very surprised voice said, “The pain has gone, the pain has GONE…” The man with the ankle, suddenly said his pain was gone too…
I paid my bill. Left a tip and went on my way, with a Merry Christmas to those waiting for haircuts… after they had heard what had gone on in the back room from the two men, I asked if anyone else would like a Christmas prayer…
Thank you God for your generous provision. 

I have been studying the Gospel of Luke the beloved physician.  Looking closely at the healing miracles: The healing of the Leper, The Healing of the Paralytic lowered through the roof,  The healing of the Centurions servant, the raising of the widows son, The healing of the demonic, Jairus daughter and the woman with chronic bleeding, The healing of the crippled woman on the Sabbath,  the healing of the ten lepers, and the healing of the blind beggar.  Ten healing stories amongst the story of Jesus and his many other parables and miracles.  The whole thing is just amazing.  Jesus preaching the kingdom and healing the sick.

 I was in a dream state this morning just saying the word Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…. Half awake and half asleep… My imagination was going wild… it was strange, it was if I was seeing the name Jesus floating upwards like a stream of words… it was as if the person on earth who said the name Jesus enough times… got the attention of The Messiah.  I know that is not true, and that I was most likely more asleep than awake, but I must say that when I awoke, I was smiling… the name Jesus was still on my lips.  My waking thought then was, well I am just going to say Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, all day long… a constant stream of the beloved name of Christ.  I felt a bit like the blind man shouting, “Jesus, Son of David have mercy on me…” as he was getting the attention of Christ much to the embarrassment of the crowd.  

I felt it was a bit of a competition to get His attention, this I know is not true, he truly hears even one soft and whispered word, ‘Jesus” in someone who has never mentioned the name… I know that he hears us, 

I know that he is always with us and will never leave us. We know that Jesus went off to be by himself quite a lot.  Mostly to get away from the crowds but the main reason was to be with His father, to pray. 

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus… hear our prayer… call upon the name of Jesus…1 Cor 1:2 writes; To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the nameof our Lord Jesus Christ – their Lord and ours, Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  A community prayer… and greeting. 

This verse continues, I always thank God for you because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way – in all your speaking and in all your knowledge – because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. 

OK… got it so far… Jesus, Jesus, Jesus….

Now hear comes the icing on the cake…. Therefore, you do not lack anyspiritual gift as you eagerly (even as you) wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.  God does not want us to be ignorant in this: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues. 

Verse 17 writes, for Christ did not send Paul to baptize, but to preach the gospel not with words of human wisdom, least the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.  The power of God.  It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God, that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.  Therefore, as it is written; “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” 

Boast, to praise oneself or one’s possessions, to express pride in oneself or one’s accomplishments. To brag, blow, crow, gasconade, mouth, prate, puff and vaunt.  Today I am going to gasconade in the name of Jesus….

So, lets lift up the name of Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…. A prayer in itself.   Jesus, A prayer of help, Jesus, a prayer of thanksgiving, Jesus, a prayer to heal, Jesus, a prayer to get His attention, Jesus, here I am I need you, I am in pain, I need to be healed.  

Luke writes, “And everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled” the disciples did not understand any of this.  Well, I wonder where does this leave us?  If the disciples did not understand it, and they were with Jesus how do we get it?  Oswald Chamber writes: It is a fact that the Lord led the disciples to the cross of crucifixion in the end. No wonder they did not understand.  The things that happened do not happen by chance they happened entirely in the decree of God, God working out His purpose.  Just as we do not understand sickness.  But I do understand that He wants us to be well, He wants us to prosper, he wants us to live a fulfilled life in Him.  He wants us to draw closer to him, in saying the name of Jesus, the name that heals, the name that cures… 

the name that softens the heart… the name that I believe can even change a cell structure from sickness into health.  (someone say Amen)

This is what I have been thinking about, this is what the Lord put on my mind to talk to you about today.  When you take all the healing stories, looking at all the different angles Jesus comes from, the compassion, the method, the love, the calling of the name, the very presence of Jesus… the presence of Jesus…ah har…. Is that the common denominator, is that what our souls are craving for… the very essence and presence of The Christ Jesus… do we have a longing for that presence?  I think that is it… I think my soul longs and yearns for Jesus…(My body shook when I wrote that…I am now gasconadeing in the Lord)  a deep seated knowing of the need and desire of Jesus in my life… as my soul was calling out, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus… this morning… the very name of Jesus…  I long to have him stand next to me…

 to look over my shoulder… to watch Him heal… that’s what I want Jesus… to see thousands healed in you loving name.

Lets look at the name of Jesus in the bible:

She will give birth to a son and you are to give him the name Jesus…

And he gave him the name Jesus.

When two or three come together in the name of Jesus…

Blessed is he who comes in the name of Jesus…

Zacchaeus was short, he wanted to see Jesus, so he climbed a tree…

Many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name…

They took out palm branches and shouted, ‘Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord…”

Jesus said, “When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to myself… become sons of the light.  Was Christ drawing me to him as I slept? 

And here is my message for you today, here is the bottom line… from John 14:14

“You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” 

And from John 20:31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son Of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.  

And every one who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved…

***  Joel 2:32 (Old Testament) and Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13

David said, I saw the Lord always before me.  Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken…

Peter said, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit… (Acts 2:38) 

Peter said, Silver and gold I do not have but in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Walk…

By faith in the name of Jesus  this man whom you see and know was made strong…

And the bottom line

It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.  

What more can I add to that, except that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. 

And of course, the command in Acts 4:30 the reason for the healing service today, the reason we all come to worship the Lord.

“Stretch out your hands to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonder though he name of your holy servant Jesus”  (Acts 4:30)

Barnabas brought Saul now Paul to the apostles and told them that he preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus…

And the name of Jesus was held in high honor… 

Call upon the name of Jesus…

In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth be healed….

In the NAME of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit… Amen…

NINE YEAR ANNIVERSARY. 12/23/09 – 12/23/2018

THANK YOU for praying for me.
The Leaves were turning on the trees on 10th Oct 2009 as I took a blue light ambulance to the Saratoga Springs NY hospital. I didn’t notice, I was having a really hard time breathing. After a few days I was intubated and put into an induced coma. 
During that time CDC diagnosed me with H1N1 swine flu. Three weeks later I slowly woke up. I had lost 63lbs. After fifty-five day’s I left the ICU to go to rehab on Dec 3rd. That was a grueling and painful time. I had to learn to brush my teeth, eat, drink and eventually walk again. I was released on Dec 23rd 2009 to go home. The leaves were gone and snow was on the ground. What happens to the fall?
Somehow I managed the three steps up into our house and made it to the rented hospital bed in my downstairs den. I confess that during that long slow walk I was beyond emotional. I’m alive… It was realized that after a few hours I needed oxygen. It was delivered very quickly!
Today I give thanks for all of you who prayed that I would live. THANK YOU DEAR SOULS FOR YOU PRAYERS.

BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING…
A reflexion by Fr. Nigel W. D. Mumford+

I have been a public speaker for the Lord for twenty-eight years. Nearly three decades! A month ago as I was preparing to travel 1,2000 miles
to speak about Jesus for twenty minutes. (That is very hard as I normally speak about him for at least 4 hours when going on healing missions.) I was, as usual getting myself worked up… the normal “Slight” anxiety about travel and speaking… for the first time in 28 years I got a download of peace from God. He reminded me that “I have gone before you! You don’t have to worry about anything.” I knew that Biblically but I did not live it. I have spent 28 years being anxious for nothing. I have to say, with a smile on my face, “Lord why did you not tell me this 28 years ago?” He Responded, “You didn’t ask!” Oh the joy of my boss… I love you Lord. Thanks For keeping me on my toes. You crack me up Jesus. May be one day I will get the hang of all of this… and then you fly under my radar… and zing me again… and I learn something new… what a true adventure this is with you. thank you God, Thank you Jesus, Thank you Holy Spirit. Thank you Holy Trinity… Amen.

DATELINE: Saturday 17th November 2018
FLYING TO TALLAHASSEE.
HEALING OF A JEWISH LAWYER.

I was the first to board the 10am flight and got into my window seat.
A man sat in the aisle seat. We got talking. He was a judge, and a lay
Reader for the Methodist church. We had a great chat. Then a young
Man sat between us. He is a lawyer. I said, when we land we should walk
Into a bar… “A Judge, a lawyer and a Priest walk into a bar…” we laughed.

The young man said that was a good idea. Then I knew in the spirit
That he was an alcoholic. I point blank asked him how long he had been
Drinking. “Since 8am” he said. I said “NO….what age did you start drinking?”
He said, “Eight but seriously at eighteen years old” how old are you now. He told me.

He told me he was Jewish and asked me about Jesus. HE ASKED ME ABOUT JESUS! He said that he expected me to postalize at him. I told him I never do
That. (He’s on the hook) I asked him what he needs healing of. He told me. I told him some new testament stories and then some healing stores from
My history. (Now he’s really on the line!) Reverse psychology works so well!
Finally towards the end of the journey I told him about salvation and the love of Jesus and of the love of God the father. That was the key. He REALLY wanted to know God the Father. He really needed the Father’s love.

I asked the judge, who was reading his book, to help me pray for this man.
He lit up up in joy.
This Jewish lawyer was now in tears as we laid hands on him and prayed for
His healing and salvation. I told him to find Bill W. Code for joining A.A.

The plane landed… we all exchanged business cards… and the still drunk
Jewish now believer hugged me with lots of gratitude. I will follow up next week and call him early before he starts drinking for the day!

Please pray for this man. I’m not going to give his name or where he lives
For obvious reasons…

This was a “flight” to remember.
I love my boss… you never know what he is going to do.
I could not possibly make this stuff up…
Jesus ambushed this man in need of healing.
A judge, a lawyer and a priest walk off a plane…

PS. A woman sitting in front of us was wearing a American legion jacket.
I saw her in the elevator on my way to the next flight. I asked her if she had
Heard our conversation. “I was hanging on every word” she said.
“ I was praying like crazy.” She was so happy. She said, “God put the three of you together…” I said, “God put the four of us together.” She smiled, agreed, and I went to my next gate. Feeling good!

HEALING THE PAST AND THE PRESENT
DATELINE: 7pm Saturday 11/17/18
WARNING: Not for the faint hearted!

I was at a gathering in someone’s house.
I met a man and spoke with him briefly.
At one point he put his hand on the kitchen counter.
I looked at his hand and saw a finger missing.
I looked again and his hand was complete… all fingers present!

I heard myself say, “Do you have any relatives who lost a finger.”
The words just came out of my mouth. I was really surprised and
Said to myself, “oh boy, you just can’t unring a bell!”

He said no… and stood back for a while. He, like me was totally surprised.
There was a long pause. He looked around… I just stood there…
He then said a story that he had not spoken about for 50 years.
He told me that when he was seven his dad told him about his great
Grandmother.

She died and was buried.
Grave robbers dug up her grave and, to get the ring on her finger
CUT HER FINGER OFF.
He then said,
They kicked her dead body in the chest as they left…
The kick rebooted her heart.
She came back to life!!!!!!!!!!

She lived many years after that.
If she had not been dug up this man I was talking to
Would not be alive now. As she gave birth to his Grandfather
AFTER SHE HAD DIED AND BEEN BURIED!

You just can’t make this stuff up you know.

He then told me what a word of encouragement this was as he was
Going through a very tough time…
He saw this as a reason to live… God has his eye on him.
We prayed and he was giving everyone high fives!
ALL THE GLORY GOES TO GOD.

I tell you, you could have grated cheese on my arm the goose bumps were so high!
I am so humbled by what God does…
